Nasi Lemak Bumbung @ Sea Park

Nasi Lemak, is a once a year dish for me as I am sort of "allergic" to coconut milk. My stomach gets bloated and a wave of excruciating pain hits me whenever I had too much coconut milk. Sounds exaggerating but true, #sadlife

So when I have Nasi Lemak, it has to be good...
Perfectly done runny bullseye egg...with the company of thick & sweet sambal that comes with a tinge of spiciness, a side of crunchy nuts, and perfectly deep fried chicken, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, thrown together on top of hot pipping coconut milk infused rice, with a price tag of RM4.50 only.

The rice weren't as soft and fluffy was expected, but the creamy egg yolk and sambal made up for it. Just divine.
We finally made it to Nasi Lemak Bumbung at Sea Park, after so many failed attempts (that ended us up in Burger Lab LOL). Nasi Lemak Bumbung, contrary to its name, do not have a "bumbung" (roof). The make shift stall is set up behind the streets of Maybank, while the workers were seen painstakingly deep frying the chickens and eggs at a common area where a bak kut teh store was setted up.

Our bill came up to about RM12 only (2 plates of nasi lemak, 1 warm water and 1 teh tarik), a price which you can't get in other famous Nasi Lemak places (DU..ahem ahem). Down side is well your dining experience gets affected by the weather, especially on a hazey day. But it's definitely worth visiting!

Jiro Shabu, Taipan USJ

Working life is much hectic than I thought. I feel so zombi-fied every day after work. My motivation at work is , bingo, FOOD. Thinking about good food that awaits me after work gives me strength and energy to pass through the day. Comfort food keeps me going. And one of my favourite comfort food after freezing in the office for the whole day, is Shabu Shabu.

And the Shabu Shabu restaurant closest to my home is Jiro Shabu, which I could conveniently drop by after a dreadful day at work! I was very fortunate to be invited by Mr Kam for a food tasting session at Jiro Shabu.
Jiro Shabu is located conveniently at Taipan USJ, at the same row as KFC and O' Wan Burger Haus. Why conveniently? Well cause parking is relatively easier too on that row ... :D

This was actually my second visit here. My first visit was somewhere around last year with my family. Jiro Shabu has since revamped their menu, with new food items added in. Sadly, their All-You-Can-Eat Shabu Shabu has been scraped off :(
Jiro Shabu's stylish yet homey interior made us feel at "zen" or calm,  which features a blend of wood and calming brown wallpaper on a side and white patterned wallpaper on the other side of the wall, with a touch of modernism thrown in.
Each person has their personal pot, so yay no sharing and you get to choose your desired soup base too! (Refer below for different flavours of soup base)
Feel free to grab a plate from the conveyor plate to instantly satisfy your steamboat/desserts craving! The pricing is based on the colour of the plate, like how most kaiten-sushi restaurant works :)
The various condiments available. Sweet, spicy, much spicy, chase away vampires, Jiro Shabu has it all ;)
I was pleased to see that the selections of soup base at Jiro Shabu has increased- there's even soy milk dashi! (which, I wasn't adventurous enough to try out :P). Since everyone has their own personal pot, you need not to share and compromise on selecting your desired soup base with your friends :P

At Jiro Shabu, one can opt for their individual Shabu Shabu set, which comes with a choice of meat, carbo and a deep bowl vegetables, or share a set for two pax which are all reasonably priced :)
Not enough? Don't worry, you can always add on from the ala carte menu, or just snag a plate from the conveyor belt!
After you've done selecting your desired set/ala carte items, just write down your order, and pass it to the waiter and they will be serving you shortly :)
 Tonkotsu Pork Bone Soup RM5
Creamy tonkotsu pork bone soup, with a ouch of sweetness with the addition of Goji Berries
Was delighted to find some veggies and tofu in my soup, which enhanced the flavours and depth of the soup greatly :)
Suki Shabu Dashi
My date of the night, Jess, ordered this, she quoted , "teriyaki sauce goes well with everything!" She was right. This soup base was amazing! No matter what you cook inside this soup turns out flavourful and delightful! However, this soup might be a little too salty for some. I'm a huge fan of salty food so I drank the soup mouthfull after mouthfull heh :D

Our colourful spread for dinner. :)
And Jess, my date for the night busy being Asian :P
Jiro Signature 8 Flavours Prosperity Fish Paste RM19.90
Wasabi, Kimchi, Ginger Seeaweed, Chilli Garlic, Cheese  Parsley, Sake, Carrot, Yuzu Lotus flavoured fish paste. A perfect dish for sharing, or those who enjoy a variety of flavours and taste.

Jess and I couldn't figure out which was which- so we just randomly try out and try to guess the flavours lol! I personally enjoyed the white one (Yuzu Lotus) and the orange one (carrot).
Jiro 5 Fortune Noodle
(Clockwise from top) Cha Soba, Kishimen, Somen, Soba & Kishimen (middle)
Perfect to those indecisive, cause you get to try them all! :P I really love the bouncy and chewy texture of the soba! But my favourite would be the kishimen, because it absorbs the flavours in the soup, giving each bite a punch of flavours. This is a must try for noodles lover! It was really fun tasting the distinctive taste and texture of the noodles :)
Sea Red Shabu Set RM60-79 (Seasonal Price)
Sea Red Snapper served with 2 free soup (worth RM5 each) and a vegetable bowl loaded with cabbage, bak choy, enoki & shitake mushrooms, sliced carrot and leek.
This set is good for 2 person. The sea red snapper was sooo fresh I could literally taste the sea! Best served with the complementary dark ponzu sauce or roasted sesame sauce which gives a tangy & sweet aftertaste.
Fresh seafood coming up!
US Large Scallop Meat RM17.90
Hokkaido Octopus RM18.90
Can be eaten raw or cooked. I personally prefer eating this raw cause I always accidentally overcook the tentacles, resulting in a overly dense and chewy texture. Also, I thought it would be a waste, as the freshness and natural sweetness of the octopus was just there!
Hokkaido Half Shell Scallop RM14.90
The key to a good shabu  shabu dinner is freshness- and I am glad to say that Jiro Shabu met the requirement! :D All seafood were served fresh, no revolting fishy smell at all.
And here comes my favourite part of the meal- red meat!
Premium Pork Belly RM9.90
Premium New Zealand Lamb Shoulder RM12.90
Australian Premium Striploin RM18.90
The meats were delightfully tender! It's no wonder why they put the word "premium" in the menu :P Sliced thinly, the meat literally melted in my mouth as I embraced it. My favourite would definitely be the Australian Premium Striploin. So tender, soft and mhmmmm flavourful! Recommended to cook it in Suki Shabu Dashi. The meat was extra tender and flavourful, as it absorbs the sweetness and saltiness of the Suki Shabu Dashi.
Crystal King Prawns RM19.90
Was too full to try this haha. But it seems really fresh and delectable :)
And at the end of the meal, dessert is served- sliced watermelons and an icy cold fizzy drink mix.
I don't know what is this called, but I loved this icy cold fizzy drink mix- it was sourish with a tinge of sweetness, and I instantly felt refreshed! It was the perfect closure to our wonderful steamboat dinner.

Fresh food, flavourful broth, friendly and efficient service. I'd certainly be popping by whenever I have a steamboat craving! Once again, I'd like to thank Mr Kam for his generosity.

Coffee Good Golly Miss Molly, Millenium Square

Coffee good molly? Good Molly Golly Coffee? Golly Good Coffee Molly Rolly Polly? This new kid on the block with a rather catchy name caught my attention while performing my daily routine of scrolling through social media, and thus my curiosity brought us here on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
CGGMM is located at the far end of Millenium Square where the infamous Picadilly is nestled in. I've never heard of Millenium Square and I was quite shocked when I found out Millenium Square is just about 5 minutes drive from Jaya Shopping Centre/Jaya 33.
Meet Good Golly
And Miss Molly
And together, alongside with a good cuppa, they form Coffee , Good Golly, Miss Molly!
The compound of this cafe wasn't big, but it was definitely really cosy , with the friendly and welcoming barista and the rustic interior. One can also opt to have their cuppa at the el fresco area that is surrounded by greens :)
Coffee Good Golly Miss Molly has a rustic red brick walls and unfinished cement flooring, with a large window to allow sufficient sunlight to bask the place - a perfect place for a hipster shot (my shot wasn't that hipster though :P). CGGMM is a perfect place to spend your afternoon, sipping a cuppa and just forgetting about your problems on a lazy Sunday evening.
The menu
CGGMM also serves various yummy looking pastry with those irresistible golden-yellow hue crust to go with coffee.
& not forgetting cakes !
Latte RM9
CGGMM uses bean supplied from Artisan Coffee, and coffees are served at an ideal temperature of around 65 degree celsius. However, if you prefer your coffee to be served at a slightly higher temperature, you can request the barista for it and he/she would gladly attend to your request.
GG Waffles RM8
Waffle topped with a scoop of ice-cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce, with a side of sliced bananas, strawberries and raisins.
When I first saw this on someone's insta, I was like "hey Guan Ren they named this dish after your brother's Youtube channel! (GGTV)" but I think it stands for "Good Golly Waffles" XD

The waffle had a chewy and airy texture. Id have prefer if it was crispier though :) It paired up marvelously with the cookie n cream ice-cream and chocolate syrup, alongside with the fruits to reduce our guilt.
Complementary chocolate was given to every customer in conjuction with Father's Day. Unique isn't it, the chocolate. The chocolate was rich in cocoa taste, yet not overly sweet- a perfect Father's Day treat for dad.

High Tea Set @ Ten28ight Boutique Cafe, Desa Sri Hartamas

Jiaaqieats current new obsession- High Tea
I love high teas, especially those that comes with a dainty tea pot set and a classic two/three tier pastry stand. I love how we could sip our tea, slowly savour our tea time treat, as time pass in a elegant & beautiful setting for high tea.
So when I saw groupon featuring a tea time set for two for only RM38, I couldn't resist and purchase it straight away. Grabbed two of my besties to accompany me for this afternoon treat last weekend.

Ten28ight boutique cafe has a vibrant facade overlooking Sprint Highway. The vibrant red facade was very welcoming, just like the friendly owner and staffs of this little humble cafe.
Stepping into Ten28ight Boutique Cafe is like stepping into someone's beautiful lawn, with the artificial grass spread across the wooden parquet floor, combination of elegant garden chairs & tables and classic wooden tables and chairs with cute little cushions for the comfort of customers, classic knick knacks and dainty china decorative items sitting on it's shelves. "Cosy" is an understatement to describe Ten28ight. This was simply the perfect cafe to spend a lazy afternoon with your loved ones.
The tea set (Original Price RM55 for two pax) comes with an old fashioned yet elegant two-tier pastry stand and is inclusive of:

Savoury pastries (RM10.80 value):
-Quiche x2
-Curry puff x2
-Samosa x2

French pastries
-Tart x2
-Parfaits x2
-Macarons x2
Drinks- choose 2 from:
-Hot coffee
-Hot tea
-Hot flower tea
One high tea set can also be shared among 3 pax (like what we did), but you'll have to add-on another drink :)

The top tier- sweet selection. The macarons were quite good, according to my friends, not too sweet and enjoyable. The chocolate tart was a delight, with a chock full of rich, smooth & velvety chocolate encased in a crumbly short-crust base. My favourite would definitely be the parfait. The crisp, airy and light parfait crust sandwiching a light and fluffy cream with berries were simply the bomb- I love how light & airy the cream was, it wasn't too overwhelming nor cloying, just plain pleasure & enjoyment. The two little muffins-look-a-like were actually coconut cake- it was surprisingly delightful ! It has a coarse texture which I enjoyed, yet it wasn't too dry!
The bottom tier consist of the savoury section. I enjoyed both the curry puff and samosa alot- both were crispy on the outside, and bursting with pipping hot fillings that was packed with mild spiciness. The best part is, they weren't greasy at all. Extra brownie points!
The quiche was loaded with creamy egg fillings embedded with chunks of ham, however, I find the crust a little too crumbly and dry.
We were entitled to any cakes of choice from the cake display. The kind waiter asked us our preference (sweet/sour/creamy) and he recommended us this Mango Cheese Cake based on our preferences (sour).
The mango cheese cake was the bomb! With a digestive biscuit base and topped with fresh passion fruit, the mango cheese cake has the right amount of sweetness, and we enjoyed the tangy & creamy sensation a lot! The mango cheese cake was leaning towards the light side, perfect for a light & guilt-free afternoon tea session.

Our drinks
All of us opted for Fruit Tea. Based on my experience working as a part time fruit tea promoter, I think the tea served was French Rose + Camomile - the perfect combination to calm one's senses. Was a little disappointed that the tea wasn't served in a traditional, dainty tea pot though.
My pretty companions of the day!
With good company and food, alongside with a cosy cafe with friendly staffs, comes a happy day :)
