Sushi Zanmai, Sunway Pyramid

A-Levels has been bad on me. Real bad.

Lecturers rushing through our syllabus like F1 race cars, class tests, practical reports (which I have been ditching over the pass few months)...I need more time.

Last week after class, Guan Ren and I decided to have a study session together at a new cafe in our neighbourhood. On our way out of SS15, we got stuck in the forever jam Sri KL jam. Guan Ren decided to take a detour by going up the ramp heading to Sunway Pyramid to avoid the congested roundabout, and we made a sudden decision to go to Sunway Pyramid!! That was one of the most happiest moment in my life. If someone asks me to go to Pyramid on any normal occasion I'd have just shrug it aside (after all, being a Subang kid, I literally grew up in Sunway Pyramid lol!). This shows how dire I need a break from studies hehehhe. Thank you so so so sooooo much Guan Ren! :")

Guan Ren received a RM20 Sushi Zanmai voucher so off we go on a sushi treat to reward ourselves for surviving A-Levels for more than a year! :")

Sushi Zanmai
Sushi Zanmai, a Japanese chain restaurant under the famous supersushi company. (Does Hokkaido Ichiba, Sushi Zen or Pasta Zanmai rings a bell?)

We were really taken aback by the crowd outside Sushi Zanmai. A long line rawling all the way till Shojikiya was in front of Sushi Zanmai! And it was not even a Friday night nor a weekend, it was just a normal weekday night! We asked if we could just leave our number and have them to call us when there's a seat available but they couldn't do so as it'd be unfair for those standing there. So Guan Ren & I decided to just join in the crowd, after all, good things come to those who waits ;)
We decided to browse through the menu while waiting for our seat. We were impressed with the wide array of Japanese food served in Sushi Zanmai! And best of all, the price was relatively cheaper, compared to other Japanese restaurants! =D

We were finally seated after waiting for 20 minutes. Feelign hungry, we took a few sushi plates from the conveyor belt while waiting for out food to be delivered.

 Red Plate RM6.80
Salmon Sashmi topped with cheese mayo sauce & a sprinkle of wakame
The salmon was incredibly fresh! It was so fresh I could literally taste the sea lol! The cheese mayo sauce was just superb- it has a slightly charred top to give the sushi an additional aromatic wood fire taste which was just oh-so-irresistable
 Black Plate RM4.80
Crab Stick topped with cheese on a piece of inari sushi
The sweetness of the inari was balanced up by the savoury taste of the cheese, striking a harmonic balance between the taste. Yummy!
 Red Plate RM6.80
Crab Stick & Cucumber rolled with sushi rice, topped with a slice of cheese, ebikko & some sprinkle of wakame. Love the extra crunch by the cucumber which serves as a perfect respite from teh creamy cheese. Scrumptious!

 Spider Roll RM13.80
Deep fried ebi (prawn), wrapped with sushi rice, wakame & topped with ebikko, sliced avocado, and mayo cheese sauce
The succulent prawn, soft avocado, and the tangy mayo cheese sauce, all comes together so perfectly . This is definitely somethign that you wouldn't want to miss out in Sushi Zanmai!
I really love the cheese mayo sauce. I ensured that not even one drop of the cheese mayo sauce was wasted ehe :)
Soft Shell Crab Okonomiyaki RM12.80
Shredded Cabbage cooked with Eggs (Japanese Pancake), topped with deep fried soft shell crab, and a generous amount of mayo & tonkotsu sauce.
This was the bomb. The crunchy soft shell crab was really addictive, especially when it's drenched in a generous amount of tangy mayo & sweet tonkotsu sauce, which tempted me to have one bite, after another, and another, and another.

Overall Rating: 8/10
Sushi Zanmai may be a Japanese chain store restaurant, the quality & standard of their food was certainly on par!  :) Service was prompt and efficient too. Our green tea was refilled without being prompted/asked, and the staffs greeted us with warm hospitality as we stepped into the restaurant, despite being really busy attending to all their customers. The sushi on the conveyor belt tasted really fresh too, unlike some restaurant who just leave the sushi revolving around for hours.
