Raku Zen, Empire Shopping Gallery

Raku Zen is a Japanese Chain Restaurant owned by Super Sushi, the "BIG NAME" in Malaysia's Japanese Food Restaurant Industry, also reputed one of the best Japanese Restaurant in Malaysia.

Last week, Guan Ren invited me to have dinner at Raku Zen with his siblings & cousin! I was elated as 1. JAPANESE FOOD! and 2. Raku ZEN! I've never ever been there before but I've heard a lot of good stories about em'! & 3. They're so fun to hang out with :)

The restaurant has a tranquil & elegant setting. My body & mind immediately immersed into relaxation mode as I set my foot into the restaurant. It was a normal weekday night but the restaurant was packed till the brim- we were lucky because Guan Ren's brother secured a seat for us (actually, we were late so yeah...).

Summer Roll
Tamago rolled with sushi rice & seaweed, topped with a fresh salmon slice, thinly sliced cucumber & tobikko
I was really impressed after taking a bite. The salmon sashimi was simply so fresh! It was really a delightful dish!
Cranky Roll
Salmon Sashimi, Crunchy Tenpura, rolled with sushi rice & seaweed & further topped with fresh, burst-in-the-mouth ebiko.
One bite & the crankiness will just go away from you :) The crunchiness of this roll tempted me to go for seconds :B
Caterpillar Roll
Crab Stick & Tamago, topped with Avocado slice & Tobikko
One bite and mmhmmm...the wonderful medley of avocado slice, tamago, tobiko, crab stick & the tangy mayo create a memorable taste which left me craving for more.
Dragon Roll
Prawns coated in a layer of tenpura, deep fried till golden crisp, rolled with sushi rice & seaweed and further topped with thinly sliced Avocado & ebikko, drizzled with tangy Japanese Mayo.
A little similar to the Caterpillar Roll above, but I'd prefer this over the latter due to extra crisps & juicy prawns in the roll!
Teriyaki Chicken
Tender, succulent & well-marinated, with a slightly charred skin to give the chicken an extra punch. It wasn't too salty nor over-marinated so the chicken tasted really good on its own (:
Fried Salmon Skin
Salmon skin thinly sliced & deep fried into perfection. Drizzled with soy sauce to give it an extra flavour.
Airy & crunchy. The fried salmon skin here is distinct, compared toall the fried salmon skin I had try in other Japanese restaurants. The ones served at Raku Zen is less greasy, more airy, and it gives me the "melt-in-the-mouth" sensation.
Spider Roll
Soft Shell Crab, Coral Leaves, Rolled & topped with ebikko & drizzled with Japanese Mayo
The soft shell crab was really crunchy & addictive. A personal favourite for the night.
It was so good we ordered two plate of this :)
Osu Sushi [Translation: Pressed sushi]
Tamago sandwiched in fluffy Japanese Rice, topped with a generous chunk of salmon sashimi.
The salmon sashimi was fresh as expected. However, I didn't really fancy this sushi a lot as it tasted a little too sourish to my liking as a high amount of vinegar was used.
Grilled Yam Slice (can't really recall the name of this dish....sumimasen!)
The yam was crunchy & delightful, and the best part was the top part- the mayo cheese layer, which was slightly charred to bring out the best of taste.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10
Elegant backdrop, 5 Star services, and a delight to the taste bud. Raku Zen certainly is on the top of my list for Japanese fine dining :) You may find the price at Raku Zen to be slightly steeper, but you pay what you get! Top-notch service with the most exquisitive food with a lovely setting. Simply LOVE.

A million thank you to Chea Yii for the meal ! :DD Had such a great time & lovely food !
