The Good Batch, Damansara Uptown

During my last week of AS examinations, I stayed over at my aunt's house which is located in Setia Alam. It was one of the most glamorous week ever, staying at an upscale area, having the whole guestroom on my own (a King size bed and my own toilet!), a whole fridge filled with chocolates, fruits, & yoghurt along with unlimited supply of snacks & chips, get to turn on the A/C for 24/7 (my mum nags me if I do so at home lol), delicious & high class home-cooked meal by aunt (steak...korean BBQ) and so on...However, I felt lonely. My parents & brother were at Taiwan, and most of my friends resides in Subang Jaya.

After my Chemistry Paper, I had a one day break before I sit for my Biology paper. One of my classmate was really kind to fetch me back to my house @ Subang Jaya to run some errands. Guan Ren came over to keep me accompanied. He offered to fetch me back to Setia Alam & bring me out for dinner anywhere I want.

So here we are (after making a few wrong turns, braving through the horrendous rush hour jam), THE GOOD BATCH. The Good Batch is located in Damansara Uptown, amid car workshops (reminds me of Garage51), on the same row as Wondermilk. Specializing in brunch & breakfast food, this fairly new cafe has gained tremendous popularity. We were lucky as the cafe was still quite empty when we reached since it was a weekday. Heard that patrons had to wait outside for a table during the weekends.
Step into The Good Batch, you'll immediately feel as if you were swept away to some other dimension. Cemented walls & floors, wooden furniture, the black ceilings, coupled with the big windows which provides sufficient sunlight to enter. Somehow the cafe made me feel relaxed and laid back.
The Good Batch is actually a Cafe x Bar! So yes, they serve beer and have happy hours!
The warm interior, with vintage decorations around, giving the cafe a retro feel. Really loved how the good batch was decorated. Fun fact my current header was taken here too :)
Cafe Latte
Smooth body, aromatic and velvety. The coffee paired up well with the sweet cookie, creating a sweet & bitter balance.
Parisiene RM20.90
Three slices of French Toast stacked together, with each layer stuffed with Turkey Ham, Grayue, melted Parmesan and homemade B├ęchamel sauce, further topped off with two Sunny Side Up perfectly seasoned with spices & a side of greens.
Me: "WAIT WAIT WAIIIT STOP STOPPPPPPP!", As the yolk & molten cheese started spilling out, "THIS LOOKS LIKE A NICE SHOT!" Well...lol. Too late. The egg tumbled down
It was an ardorous task, trying to slice the sandwich into half to take a nice photo of it .We created a huge mess and I gave up. So NAH, enjoy this photo featuring a messy pile of half-eaten egg, a stack of french toast (half-eaten too) & the cheese & egg yolk spilling all over.

okay, in a nut shell, IT WAS AWESOME. It was so awesome, I didn't want to bother taking any photos cause the dish was too distracting. I can't bear it, staring at the sandwich, leaving it on the plate, dissipating heat, and slowly becoming a sandwich at room temperature....

Okay, serious talk here. The french toast was fluffy & rich with butter and milk. The warmth of the French toast paired up with the melted cheese, creating a rich taste & sensation when I take a bite. The sweetness of the French Toast, the savoury & rich taste of the cheese & egg, an exquisitive combination which leaves me craving for more.
Portobello Road RM19.90
Breaded Portobello mushrooms deep fried to perfection sitting on a bed of wilted spinach & grilled tomatoes on a toasted English Muffins base, topped with a poached eggs and homemade Hollandaise sauce.
The Portobello mushrroom was juicy in the inside, crunchy on the outside. The mushroom juice came bursting out with a bite. Goes very well with the Hollandaise sauce, which was creamy & smooth.

One of my poached egg was overcooked though. But I didn't mind as it was a great dish- The whole dish, along with its condiments and stuffing, just came together perfectly. Hope that it could be mroe consistent in the future though, as I foresee myself coming back soon! =)
Another huge mess I made. Food served at The Good Batch requires a high level of elegance to eat it without dripping all over.

Overall Rating: 9/10

Another favourite brunch restaurant into my list. Simply exquisite & divine. Dislike the fact that The Good Batch actually allows smokers to smoke inside though. It was really a waste, as The Good Batch has such a classy interior & serves up such good food.
