Nando's, Taipan USJ

Thanks to Nuffnang's #NNFoodFest giveaway contest, I manage to won 2 complementary 1/4 Chicken with 2 sidelines vouchers from Nando's! I was really happy as it has been so long since I had a meal at Nando's !

So my kind dad decided to bring my brother and I to have a hearty meal at Nando's, Taipan which is just a stone throw away from my house!

Now I'm sure many of you are familiar with Nando's. Their iconic black chicken logo, clearing indicating to their forte Peri-Peri chicken

So let us just move to the food review, shall we? :D
1/4 Chicken with 2 sidelines (Complementary, normal price RM17.90)
Spiciness Level: Hot
Sidelines: Coleslaw and Mediterranean Rice
I was quite taken aback by the size of the chicken. It has shrunk so much since my last visit! But to refute my statement the last time I actually visited Nandos was..1 year ago. Nandos manage to maintain their price despite all the inflation on everyday goods so I guess it was acceptable.

The chicken was really tender and succulent. The skin was slightly charred to give it a crisp and aromatic smell. The hot sauce was slightly spicy, but I loved the "kick" it gave. As each chicken was claimed to be marinated for 24 hours, each bite was pleasantly flavourful.
The huge bowl coleslaw was tangy, definitely better than most fast food chain store's coleslaw. I really liked the Mediterranean rice. Each grain of rice was soft, fluffy and really flavourful! Loved the aromatic olive oil taste in each bite.

Chicken Breast Burger (Wrap) with 2 sidelines/1 Fino side Rm17.90
Spiciness Level: Hot
Fino Sideline: Spinach
"Fino" in potugis language means "posh". So technically, it means posh sidelines.

I was taken aback when I went through Nando's menu. There are so many new items such as burgers and wraps! There's even a vegan option for the burgers/wraps for a lower price =p

I really liked the sauteed spinach. It was cooked with olive oil till tender.
The wrap on the other hand was a little too spicy. I couldn't help it but to snatch my dad's drink (it was bottomless btw so I think he wouldn't mind LOL). The peri-peri sauce was too concentrated. I'd recommend you to opt for mild if you'd like to go for the wrap. It was a really good wrap, the skin was warm and soft, the chicken was tender and succulent, generous chunks of tomatoes and capsicums were stuffed inside the wrap. BUT I was begging each bite for mercy and tears just welled up in my eyes as I embrace each bite LOL.

Overall rating, 7.5/10. Service was prompt and waiters were friendly. Environment was also really unique with all the traditional tribal knick-knacks hanging around.
Thanks again Nuffnang for the vouchers =D Had a great and satisfying meal at Nando's!
