Homemade Cheese Cracker Recipe



I always have this problem doing exam period. I get bored. Easily. I want to explore new stuff. New hobby. New skills.

Thus, I went to one of my favourite Youtube channel, Food Wishes and started watching videos of recipe which I had been neglecting since A-Levels started and came across this simple recipe with few steps
And before I knew it, I took out whatever leftover cheese I have in my fridge, butter, flour and pepper and mix em up...
=))))) the shape didn't turn out as perfect as I wanted it to be but it tasted really good!
It was really simple! This recipe doesn't require much mixing or beating. You just need to ensure that the ingredients are incorporated.

Here's the recipe and video to those who are interested =) It's really simple to make! The end result was really satisfying. The cheese cracker was really crispy and aromatic! Good to eat on its own or dip it in cheesy cheese, or your favourrite beverage =)

-4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) salted butter, at room temperature (if using unsalted butter, add 1/4 tsp salt)
-3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, finely grated (I used 1/2 cup cheddar, 1/4 cup parmesan)
-1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
-1 cup all-purpose flour
-2 tablespoons cold water

1. In a bowl, mix butter, cheese and pepper with a fork till incorporated.
2. Add in flour slowly. The mixture will become dry and crumbly.
3. Add in two tablespoon of cold water, one at a time. Mix until the mixture comes together into a ball
The dough should be moist but not wet.
4. Cover the dough with cling wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to harden the butter.
5. Preheat oven to 180 degree celcius. Line aluminium foil on baking tray and set aside.
6. On a lightly floured work surface, roll dough very thin, about an eighth of an inch thick. Dot center of cracker with a fork or the end of a paint brush. The pieces can be close together as they won’t expand much when baking.
7. Bake for 13 to 15 minutes until fragrant, golden brown, and crisp. Allow to cool before serving.





The crackers can be stored in an airtight container for two or three days.
